Description
BG Lap is a spacial puzzle game involving deduction and logic, in some ways not unlike the popular mine sweeper. The game is played on an 8 by 8 grid of tiles which are all hidden at the start of the game. Of the 64 tiles, 16 are each blue, red, yellow and green, and are placed so as to form a contiguous area, i.e., are all next to each other horizontally or vertically. The object of Lap is to deduce the colour of all tiles while accumulating as many penalty points as possible. The game will give you hints on what colours a given tile is not, with each hint costing one penalty point while an incorrect guess costs 4 penalty points. The object of the game therefore is to deduce the colour of all 64 tiles using as few hints as possible, thus, if the tile in the corner of the grid is green, you can guess that the tiles around it will be green since odds are the corner of the grid won't be the edge of the patch of green tiles, however determining the boarders of the four zones and the precise extent of all the tiles while not using many guesse; much less making mistakes, is the skill of the game.
As you would expect, the spoonbill Version of Lap contains commands for looking at the grid and also keeping track of useful facts such as how many tiles of a given colour you have already discovered and how many are left, as well as your numbers of penalty points. The game uses Microsoft sapi for self voicing capability and also with it's high contrast graphics is ideal for low vision players too. As with other Bg games, Lap can even play music in midi format during the game.
Get good enough and you might even earn yourself a place on The BG Lap top 20 page found hear though bare in mind that will take a good amount of accurate guess work.
